  Just bought a food item from A.P. Food Express and have now noticed the best before date has been rubbed off. I have no idea how past it's best before date it is and so loathe to eat it (I'm pregnant so don't want to chance it), so that's money wasted. I know it's not illegal to see food items past their best before date, unless dangerous for human consumption (although under the Food Labelling Regulations most pre-packed food is required to bear a best before date) but most reputable stores would sell products on at a discount with the date still visible so that customers can make an informed choice rather than have the wool pulled over their eyes, buying substandard but overpriced products. Anyway, Trading Standards have been notified.
