  Bristol's main library and has all the services one would expect of a major cities library. It's a shame, but it's now one of the last remaining libraries in Bristol, that's Tory austerity for you....

  Great building and space but terrible internet. It's quite hard to study properly without a good internet connection. It would be great to see an improvement in this area.

  Great old building, you'll always find a seat if you're in the centre of town and need a space to do some work. If you go upstairs it is really quiet, much quieter than the ground floor. (For those complaining about the noise) In addition, I will mention that the temporary display area on the first floor, in front of the reference library hosts some interesting mini-exhibitions, always worth checking out. I've found out a lot about less well-known local history from these.

  Wonderful building with a beautiful exterior style, inside the Reference Library is an excellent place to study with a large collection of reference books, the local history collection is very extensive. Lighting also very good which is important obviously when reading. Some people can be very noisy in here though including people chatting loudly on mobile phones in the library. Is the world going mad? Other times though things can be very quiet. The staff often make no attempt to keep their voices down which is odd considering their profession. I've found some of them though very helpful in going the extra mile to assist with requests. It's open access so you get quite a few tramps wondering in. Lockers are available as well as a photocopier for a price.
