  The hotel is housed in a huge beautiful old building. Nice sized rooms with good heating making for cosy warm rooms. Well furnished with very comfortable beds and nice soft furnishings and deep pile carpet. Large sized bathrooms with decent hot water temperature which is rare these days in hotels. Smoking rooms available. Friendly reception staff. My only criticism is when you arrive there are steps to get into the hotel and there is no one to help you with your case or open the door. When you have struggled with your case and the steps the 'bell boy' suddenly appears as if to help you. I have stayed many times and enjoyed my stays but every single time it's the same when you get through that door he suddenly appears. It's the only let down and something that could be fixed in a second. With that said this is the hotel I always stay in when working in Manchester. Book in advance as the book price at reception is considerably more than paying on advance.

  Hired meeting room a couple of times now and always very well looked after. Great customer service when booking. Hotel always clean and tidy. Not stayed in rooms but reception always great.

  Stayed here during a champions league game. Hotel was fully booked and the room i ended up having was in the rafters! A tiny room, bed had been fully used and was more than squeeky. Location of hotel was a plus. Staff tried their best considering football on that night. Breakfast was standard but nothing special.

  Nice looking and clean hotel. Helpful and friendly staff. Decent place as it is near lots of shops, banks, restaurants etc and decent price for staying. But: The bed was very uncomfortable hard as a board (I found sleeping on the floor more comfortable). The shower did not work and food was over priced.

  Nice friendly staff and a real mix of people you'll meet in the bar at 1 in the morning! I can't say the dark windowless, broken shower head were great though. Good enough for somewhere to sleep in the middle of town.
