A really lovely boutique hotel located a half block from Derby Cathedral and within easy reach of many food and beverage options as well as shopping. My room was clean and on the small side, but ok for just me (would have been very tight for two). Unlike some reviewers I did not have a problem with the sink console in the bathroom; there was room for my toothbrush and toiletries. There was a small fridge and a hot pot for tea and instant coffee, with some milk capsules in the fridge. The building is historic with many original features in the public spaces - stone staircase, stained glass, high ceilings, interesting moldings and windows. Staff was warm and friendly especially Courtney -- who really helped us deal with the snow storms that were visiting at the same time we were. Breakfast was included and delicious. On offer is a variety of cereals, pastries and toast along with choice of a hot menu option, including an English Full (with local sausage!), several eggs-Benedict style options, and porridge. I'd happily stay here again next time I'm visiting Derby.

Getting very tired now. The room we stayed in was quirky (we paid extra to stay in the better room), but ultimately let down by how many bits weren't working. The bar is (understandably) tiny, but well stocked if you like gin. Staff were friendly, and the location was ideal; but the hotel itself desperately needs refurbishment, or to drop their prices to reflect the lack of investment.

Lovely function room on 1st floor. Great cocktails. The entrance area feels rather quiet, dark and lifeless during the day

Building looks gorgeous, very much the traditional style and where so many hotels allow the building to fall into utter disrepair this seemed clean and serviceable structurally! Staff were reasonably welcoming although do allow yourself 10 mins to check out. Room was really nice and the bed comfortable. At least 1 bulb was out, but to crash after dinner and before an early morning it caused no issues. I'd stay here again. Parking is pretty limited!
