  Warm welcome - helpful staff - comfortable room and bed. For us the location was perfect - able to access everywhere we wanted by car. Excellent food and surprised by extra discount for guests staying. Easy slow, departure and good conversation with the Manager who was a great host.

  Refurb is lovely. Everywhere much brighter and cleaner . Been twice recently but small things let it down....no loo roĺls in ladies toilet for example. Food last night wasn't brilliant I had fish and chips. Batter was overcooked and fish undercooked. Edible but disappointing. My hubby and son were hoping that after the refurb there would be a better choice of real ales but have so far been disappointed. Our local pub and we have a long history with the place so will always be loyal. Just a shame that is is "nice" when it could be "excellent"! An iconic building in a lovely area and it should and could be a flagship pub.
