  Mark Keely is an intelligent, friendly builder. His team did a major renovation on my house around 6 years ago (extension, loft conversion, underfloor heating, full renovation). Most of the work was of an excellent standard, with high quality finishes. Unfortunately, however, some was not - I have had to replace / repair all 3 showers, and 3 out of the 4 toilets over the years due to poor workmanship, and a wet-room leaked, (causing rotten joists) and had to be ripped out and replaced. Incorrect materials were used (e.g. standard plasterboard in a wet room, chipboard under tiles, poor cement mix in a garden wall / ridge tiles causing them to fall down. It may be that this was all due to a couple of 'bad eggs' in the team, who I understand have since been replaced. What has been frustrating is that although Mark and his team are friendly and approachable, and offered some assistance to remedy the defects (e.g. ripping out the faulty wet-room), several times they 'disappeared' before the work was complete, not returning any phone calls or emails. I have spoken to other clients of Keely Construction, who have had similar issues - jobs being done well but not quite finished properly, and then calls and emails not returned. This maybe a general problem with builders, I don't know. In the end I gave up trying to get hold of them, and I would have taken legal action to recover my repair costs, but the legal / expert witness costs were just too great. In the end I cut my losses and got another builder to make good the problems.
