  Only my second visit and still think this has to be one of the best restaurants in Edinburgh for comfort, lovely staff,(leave you in peace) but most of all beautiful food at an affordable price.

  Nice place for a romantic break. Room layout a bit odd, wardrobe in the bathroom? Some decor showing its age but good bar and great location.

  Booked a mini suite a couple of Saturdays ago. Really lovely place. The staff were all great, and even arranged a special surprise in our room whilst we went for lunch. The room was really comfortable, and the bath and shower more than big enough for two 🙂 . A little loud being a Saturday, as we were nextdoor to the bar, but tbh, we were in the bar until closing time! When the bar closed and the nightclub in the basement opened, we didn't hear a thing. Really nice. Thank you!

  Great food especially the Mac and cheese. Reasonably priced room service. Themed rooms are cool. Gave us a nice note and chocolates for our honeymoon.

  Disappointing, slow and insulting We dropped into Le Monde bar late afternoon on valentines day looking for a lite bite and a nice drink. We’d had a casual walk along George street at the start of a couple of days away to celebrate our anniversary. We asked if we could eat in the bar, sat waiting and when ordering drinks asked the 2nd person for a food menu. We ordered champagne, expensive champagne, which the waiter brought over and advised us he’d been told to ask for payment before opening it!!!! Which we obliged without fuss and then ironically were asked if we’d like to pop the cork ourselves or prefer for him to do it?! £120 on a bottle of champagne we opened ourselves! And still no food by the time we finished the bottle. I spoke to a supervisor about our experience to establish if prepayment of champagne was usual policy. She explained sometimes drinks may be asked to be paid for at point of order when the bar was busy. This isn’t what actually happened, we ordered, the waiter brought it and told us he’d open it once we paid! The supervisor offered a lot of apologies but was not experienced to deal with our feedback appropriately. She followed me back to my seat with the intention of taking contact details to pass on to her manager. She did write down my phone number but on a piece of scrap paper not even backed up by a pad or anything to lean on, not sure what numbers were written down but we are still waiting for the call from somebody to ‘offer the proper Le Monde experience’ she spoke of. Very poor service and totally insulted on what should have been the start of our special couple of days!
