  Just read the appalling review by Jason. As a fellow Subpostmaster, Malvern Link were completely correct in what they did. These are instructions from Post Office and stipulated in their agreement with Royal Mail. The sorting office (sic) were completely out of order. It isn't actually a sorting office, that's done in Birmingham - it's just a Mail Delivery office and one that doesn't have a clue.

  After recently relocating to Malvern and looking forward to using my new local post office for various services I was shocked when I was turned away from attempting to drop off some pre paid marked mail for collection. I was told that "Royal Mail wont take that unless it is in a Royal Mail sack" - the post office was busy so I didn't wish to argue the case there and then. Instead I went to the Royal Mail sorting office on Abbey Road and explained the circumstances and that i didn't have any mail sacks currently. When I setup my business account with the Royal Mail, the representative on the phone said ideally they would be in mail sacks but in case you dont have any, feel free to use carrier bags or even bin liners as long as you have them sealed with the PPI identification label. A few comments were made about the attitude of the Malvern Link staff compared to other post offices in the area and the sorting office were not suprised that I had experienced problems... Finally, I wanted to resolve this issue with the postmisress at the Malvern Link Post office and after stating i was a business customer wanting to speak with her, a sigh was made on the phone followed by a long pause before finally speaking with her. I tried to explain the issue to her, but there was no one listening on the other end... just a simple reply saying that is how it is and they wont ever accept it not in a Mail Bag... All I was after was a little common sense, and I would be more than happy to put the matter to rest, the quantity I was sending did not warrant the use of a large mail sack - but I had got some nonetheless to stop any further issues... When I explained that I had been up to Abbey road sorting office and they were happy to accept the bag from me I was left was left with this remark "Well then in that case, you might as well just go and use that post office in future then"... I was shocked at the manner and unprofessional behaviour shown from a postmistress. Although this service doesnt generate money for them, I use other services that do and I can assure you that I will not ever step foot in there again.

  They offer pretty much all post office services and they're not usually too busy.

  Gerry provides a great service and now with the mini post office at the counter I can send my Pictorial Guide to the Malvern Hills book orders seven days a week. I always get my foreign currency here.
