A day out at Markeaton Park is not to be underestimated! We enjoy it all year round from the Christmas Craft markets in the Craft Village to a pool side picnic and a dip in the swimming pool in the summer. Large grounds to walk around, play parks etc... and reasonable parking fees.

Beautiful park for the family time. Two big car parks and lovely walk to children play area. In the summer gets very busy when public swimming pool is open. Otherwise brilliant place to go with families.

I like Markeaton Park for taking my dog on walks. Every one friendly. In the summer there is loads to do for families. It's a well looked after park. Not happy that your going to have to paid for tennis courts at the end of March. Wish more dog owners would pick up after themselves.

This is like a big green oasis in the city. Very nice park with extensive grounds and plenty to see. Welcomes dogs off the lead (as long as they are well behaved). Parking is not free - we paid £2 for 2 hours, although there are plenty of spaces. There is some historical interest in the form of preserved ruins, a craft village with a number of shops in a large courtyard, a cafe (we didn't go in, so I can't comment on the food/prices), open fields, woodland, a lake etc. There are great play areas for children, with a high ropes course (although this wasn't in use when we were there). The toilets were incredibly clean and warm - the best public toilets I have been in for a long time. We visited twice over the weekend when we were staying locally. Definitely worth a visit.

A lovely park to walk around with lots of space to let dogs and kids run loose. Also a fun play park to enjoy too!! Great to go in summer time due to pools being in use and banana boats etc.
