  The hotel could do with a refurb they need to refurbish the reception and the bar ( first impression) The staff are very helpful and friendly. The room is adequately clean but dated. rates are expensive as are all hotels in Brighton. Brighton is a lovely place to visit but the room rates are expensive and the Hotels are nothing special. I would recommend a day visit if southern rail are not on strike.

  This is just a terrible hotel. I paid £124 for a one night stay. It looks so tired. Not cared for at all. The lift isnt working....or as the GM told me it has delayed working. However, I'm just recovering from a hip operation and had to walk up three flights of stairs with heavy bags. On this journey, I noticed how dirty the carpets were. When I entered the room empty wine bottles from the previous guests. Lights not working! It was the most darkest room I've ever been in. Don't waste £20 paying for an upgrade .....you have to walk around the room sideways! Take this advice....avoid this hotel like you would the plague. Whatever you do, don't complain to the GM. He only replied when I contacted Head office and the thrust of his response was that they hadn't done anything wrong and he was sorry that they hadn't met my expectations. If you think from this email, I have high expectations go there. If you want a hotel that values your custom avoid going there. Fortunately, there are many hotels in Brighton. This is the worst hotel I've ever had to stay in. Thank goodness it was only for one night!!

  Buyer beware. Rooms look nothing like photos. No armchair. Dirty. Even privilege room you have to turn sideways to get past the bed. Hostel in look and feel. Couldn’t find anything in reality representing the photos on this website. Scroll through photos to end where I have posted some of privilege room and its view plus old peoples’ home hotel entrance. When I asked hotel management why privilege room was not larger than the double I had also booked, the difference was explained as not any kind of upgraded room, larger room or like the website photo even though that’s how the hotel agent sold it, it was that I was buying use of a cotton light robe and plastic wrap spa slippers, and that is the total difference I should value between the rooms What would you think?

  Such a grand building but very neglected communal areas not very clean rooms in need of an upgrade. The one saving grace is the staff who were helpful and polite. Been told it is going to be refurbished and I really hope so as it deserves better than being left to fall back any further

  Rooms are small and cosy with comfortable beds. Few rooms have very small bathrooms. Every day same food in breakfast and limited food menu. Food is expensive as per the quality and choice. Even a small salad can cost you 15 pounds. Food is not that great. Staff is nice and helpful.
