::Nice hotel. The rooms are variable - some very nice, others in need of renovation. The dining room will be a lot nicer after it's renovated.

::Place is nice but everything is dated and needs a facelift. Carpets are worn (especially in the dining area) and furniture has seen better days. Walls are thin in the room too. Staff are faultless and really nice.
Valerie Hamilton
::The room was tiny! Even the doors weren't full width. There was barely enough room between the bottom of the bed and the wall to get my suitcase passed! The room was too warm to sleep comfortably but when I opened the window the traffic in the morning was too noisy. Decor was dated and in need of makeover.

::I belong to a group of women who have all one thing in common. We've been married to clergymen. We meet twice a year and the Mercure is the best for us as we come from different parts of Scotland. The staff are lovely, helpful and we've enjoyed our lunch there too. It's very busy and very rarely quiet. That is always a good sign.

::Clean rooms with everything you need. Went for Christmas markets, chirstmas events and ballet which were right outside the hotel. Breakfast was excellent. Reception staff were great but feel the staff serving in dinning room could have talked to each other less and helped guests. I waited a while for them to give me any attention. Over all great place to lay your head in Edinburgh.
