  Brilliant hotel, rooms and location lovely. Service from staff next to none. Lost my room key while out at an event, emailed the hotel and there was a new one waiting for me when I got back. Couldn't recommend enough.

  Arrived Christmas Eve for the 3-night break at the Mecure Eastgate Hotel in Oxford. Bedroom small but large shower room. Restaurant is quite shambolic although the food is good. Twice our dinner order went to another table. A breakfast was completely different from what was ordered, ie, scrambled egg, sausages and hash brown ordered, bacon mushrooms, tomatoes and egg arrived. Most disappointing is that for the evening meal and Christmas lunch, paper serviettes supplied not linen ones. Never had this before, very poor. The Oxford walk included on the break was superb, brilliant guide. Staff are so polite and helpful but not good when the wrong meals keep turning up. Oxford is great but would choose a different hotel.

  The Mercure Easgate has an outstanding location for those wishing to visit the Oxford University colleges. It is very convenient to most of the famous locations. The rooms are not large but are comfortable and well appointed. The hotel dining room is just that - I rarely like hotel dining restaurants,

  Great service, lovely room and fantastic location - bathrobe had a rip in it though, and no toothpaste in the bathroom (weirdly) - but they brought up paste & disposable brushes for free. Also when I left my coat there they were fantastic - had a good look for it then posted it back to me next day for free. Would definitely stay again.
