Outstanding tour of the old docks. Dan and John were excellent tour guides and the old dock was an amazing spectacle. The whole museum set up in Liverpool is an absolute credit to the city.

I loved this.Thoughtfully presented against structures of great national heritage. A must if only for an amble around the beautifully restored dockland structures. Go and have a cup of tea on the Routemaster bus cafe outside. Nostalgic yes but still worthwhile for many other reasons.

My family and I enjoyed our visit. Everyone was friendly and there was no rush to get people moving like other museums. All the exhibits were displayed well with plenty of information. It is free but a donation is recommended though there is no one pushing you to give so you can put as much as you want or just not bother. Though I personally would recommend donating something as these places need the funding to keep informing us on our important heritage.

I spent more time in here than I care to admit, so many tragic stories and some amazingly light hearted ones too. I was a fan of the SEIZED customs exhibition downstairs. it's 4 floors of maritime goodness. Well worth the visit for anyone who visits this fair city.

Spacious galleries revealing Liverpool's seafaring history through information panels, photos, films, fascinating artefacts, interactive displays and some brilliant ship models. I was particularly moved by the hardships of emigrant families recreated in a dockland street and ship's steerage, the letters and mementos in the Lusitania exhibition, and the Slavery Museum. The Nigerian domestic compound and model of a sugar plantation both impressive. Toilets on every floor, gift shop, two cafes, fantastic views of Liverpool from upper floors. Spent three hours there, but you need the whole day to see it all.
