I stayed over the Easter weekend for my wedding. My general impression of the hotel is that it’s in a beautiful building, but that the service really doesn’t match up to the surroundings. Pros - Amazing red brick building - Generally friendly staff - Pleasant (if expensive) bar - Good quality toiletries Cons - Rooms: the rooms don’t match up to the level of luxury the hotel is trying to convey: e.g. cheap boots travel hairdryer and cheap iron, no fridge or fresh milk, no bottles of water. The attention to detail was also poor- curtains half hanging off rails, rust marks on the bathroom floor from old toilet brush holders, tepid shower on highest temperature, fixtures loose on walls. There was no information on breakfast in the room, no restaurant menus etc. The room also relied on three small lamps for all its lighting. - Breakfast- amazing room with great skylights but really underwhelming service. Pretty sparse breakfast buffet, plates were all wet and either dirty or extremely scratched. Tables were watermarked, cutlery was stained. Eggs benedict was pretty small- only one small slice of toast and one slice of bacon with the two eggs. - Staff: my room backed onto the bin area, which at 6:30am on my wedding morning seemed to be where staff gather for coffee and a chat. They were actually resting coffee cups on my bathroom window ledge- bit inconsiderate- especially at a weekend. Everything was generally clean and tidy, but I honestly think for the price and their pitch of this being luxurious, it falls well under par. All of my family stayed at the Premier Inn for half the cost- the rooms were bright, clean, and tidy. So either stay there or look elsewhere for something really special.

Wonderful hotel. So easy to get anywhere. Rooms were great and breakfast 10/10. Easy access to some amazing restaurants if you want to leave the confines of the hotel.

Excellent location in a quiet part of time between the town centre and the Marina. Close enough to all the action but far enough from the crowd and noise. Beautiful hotel with excellent rooms with a decent sized bath tub. Each room has it's own style and layout - not quite boutique and slightly old fashioned. Do try the local breakfast.

Updated review - since my 4* review below, I stayed again in October 2017. This time I stayed in the main hotel rather than the Townhouse. The room was lovely, very large and well appointed, the bed was much firmer than last time. The staff were as friendly and helpful as ever. On the basis of the staff and room, I'd love to give 5*, however again let down by the food - it's not that it is bad, because it isn't, it is just inconsistent. I had porridge for breakfast and it was so runny I could've used a straw, far too much milk/water. The following day, I had it again and it was just right. ----------------------------- This is a very nice looking hotel set across two buildings (main and townhouse) in a great central location on the edge of the marina. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The 2 bar areas and the restaurant are bright and spacious. Breakfast was good, with the usual cold buffet options of cereals and pastries, and hot food is made to order. I ate from the bar menu a few times, the burger was lovely, and a decent size. The meatballs and pasta were also nice and whilst it looked like a small portion, it was surprisingly filling. Unfortunately the pizza I had appeared to have been a frozen or chilled pizza that was reheated as part of the middle was still cold. I was starting the townhouse across the road the main building, where the room was nice if a little compact, with working air conditioning, which was a little on the noisy side and a fantastic power shower. I found the bed to be extremely soft, which isn't my preference, but will suit some people. I'm not sure whether all of beds are the same, although when I stay next time I will ask.
