It is a to see. For children once is not enough. Tourists keep coming. Always busy. Those that are interested in art work always find something to do and a place to sit. The animals session is unbelievable. Elephant and giraffe was nice to see. The different costumes of masquerade were also good to see. There is something for everyone to see. The cafe is busy but could be expensive. If you driving, it is not a good idea. It is better to bus ride to save cost. Parking could cost money.

Brilliant museum, free entry. Everything imaginable on display, something of interest for everyone. Very geared up to entertain and educate children. Good cafe with hot and cold food at reasonable prices. We were there for 3hrs and had skipped some areas so allow yourself plenty of time to explore. Stairs and lifts to all floors, plus plenty toilet facilities. Would definitely recommend a visit...

I love this as a place to pop in for a visit, with kids, without, with friends, as a carer, just for tea or to watch the hogmanay ceilidh and throw a few coins into the amazing swirly hi-tech wishing well inside the foyer, which is and an excellent distraction from the shop. There are so many educational events going on suitable for young and old alike. The community engagement team are top notch at providing great opportunities for a wide range of people, from kids to grandparents with dementia. I also love the soup for lunch. I just wish they would provide metal spoons rather than plastic in the gorgeous balcony cafe, otherwise this review would definitely be 5 stars! Meanwhile I shall continue to bring my own bread with which to finish the soup :)

A great museum! I got lost (in a good way) on the first floor of everything from working interactive science models including making music with your touch on a rubber to using your cycling abilities to rotate blades of a plane to an amazing millennium clock. A nice look back in history, culture, and fashion. Would definitely recommend on the trip to Edinburgh. Liked the exhibits on minerals and meteorites. My Goal would be to reach the higher levels.

If you want to learn about Scottish history, this is the place. Very carefully laid out museum spanning the entire history of Scotland. It's done in such a way that you get a good understanding of each time period, but without being overwhelmed with a lot of information. Has some great interactive exhibits that will get the attention of young visitors and presents information to them in a fun and accessible way. A must see, even if just for a couple hours. To really see the museum, however, be ready to spend a better part of your day there.
