Very early days after my natural lens replacement (lenses replaced on Sunday and Monday and today is Tuesday,) but experience so far is very good. I was nervous even considering having this work done, most of which was due to ignorance of what is actually involved. This was alleviated as I was given multiple opportunities to be informed as to what was involved right up to 15 minutes before the first procedure and afterwards. All the staff including Prof Jan Ventor, the surgeon took time to answer any questions. The process itself is painless and the actual replacement itself only takes about 5 minutes. Now on the day after my second eye has been done and walking around seeing with a clarity that Is already better than I was used to and been advised that it will probably getter better as my new lenses settle in. All the staff at the Bristol OE centre that were part of my experience were friendly, helpful and definitely skilled in what they do. I am looking forward to cleaning out that drawer with all my old contact lens cases and glasses etc in, being able to read the time on the bedside clock when I wake up in the middle of the night and not worrying about glasses steaming up when coming in from outside in the winter.

Overall a great experience and something I wish I had a few years prior. The only negative is that once your surgery is complete you are rushed out of the door.

I have been really let down. I paid nearly £6K for natural lens replacement and for me it’s been a disaster. The whole scans and lens replacement procedure was fine and faultless. However a week on it appears my blurry long distance is seriously wrong. I have had to BUY at my own expense to be able to see. My near vision is more than I could have hoped for, but anything beyond my elbow is completely blurred. I am devastated. I understand that I have to wait three months for this to be corrected. Optical express have me tied by their T&Cs. I have to wait three months to have this corrected and in the meantime I am stymied. So who along the line made such a terrible mistake with my prescription? I couldn’t even see to drive ... but I could see the newspaper and my phone ... sorry, not good.

The staff are very friendly. They talk you through the procedure and make you feel relaxed. Even for my check-up the next day, the staff couldn't have been any more friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend for anyone who is thinking about getting the procedure done, to go ahead and book it. It'll be the best thing you ever did!

I wouldn't even give a 1 star I had lense implants 5 years ago and my contract stated I would have free eye tests for life and if any time in the future I may need lase treatment to just correct any minor issues it would be free of charge.I had my operation at Cabot circus which was fantastic then 3 years after operation my sight I felt wasn't as great so booked eye test I went to Cabot circus only to find they had moved about 5 minutes away(why wasn't I told when I phoned) when we did find the new premises we were horrified it was full of clients complaining about the time they had been waiting gone were the fancy displays , televisions and several staff there was 1 girl on the desk and 1 consultant who told me I had no problem with my eyesight!!! Today I have booked for an eye test as I am wearing glasses for reading , the whole reason for having lense implants for me was to get rid of my glasses I have been told by optical express I have to pay £50 for test as my contract was only for 1st year!!! I asked why I wasn't charged 3 years ago for the test I had and she didn't comment.Anyone thinking if using Optical Express take my advice go else where I urge you
