  Rooms and shared areas of the hotel were fine. Food was good and the dining room is lovely. However there were some issues with customer service - room keys for my party and several others repeatedly failed for no reason. Despite having booked around a year in advance my party of three were given a double room and as the hotel was full two people had a share a double level bed with the third on a put-up which was obviously not ideal. The construction of the hotel means that doorways and corridors are narrow, and there lots of sets of steps, which means accessibility can be an issue, so not overly friendly to the mobility impaired. Bar closing times appeared to be a bit random and as far as I can see, based on whether staff wanted to be there or not.

  Lovely hotel with beautiful surroundings. Some of the staff members could do with learning some manners. Rooms are nice but was not clean when we arrived, still rubbish in the bin, dirty glasses and smelt of smoke.

  Went for afternoon tea with friends. Warm friendly staff at reception and the bar. Nothing was too much trouble. Lovely fresh sandwiches and choice of cakes. Freshest scones we have had for a long time and excellent pot of tea. Well done.

  Filthy, absolutely filthy. The room stunk of dirty hair and cigarettes. And she. We complained about it we were offered a "discount" as if it were a favour! Like we were complaining to save money and not because we have very little time off and planned a trip around a place that was too repulsive to spend a second night in (we only spent the first because it was evening when we arrived and it took an hour to be allocated our room and by that time my autistic son would not have understood why we were not going to go to the swimming pool.) The swimming pool is lovely and warm and the change rooms were clean. So maybe try the health club but avoid the hotel!

  Had a great stay here. Stayed for two nights as we went to the Gardener's World live at the NEC. Staff were helpful and friendly. Ate in the restaurant on the first night. Had a lovely breakfast as well. Would use it again.
