'Life is not about people who are true to your face, but who remain true to your back' I was once a pupil at the the Applied Pilates Centre, London Colney, however I don't go to Pilates lesson at the Applied Pilates Centre to be judged by the instructors and pay for it at the same time. I had gone to Pilates to exercise without any pre-judgment. However just because someone teaches Pilates or Yoga doesn't mean that the values align. I believe in kindness. Everything was going well until I overheard the Pilates instructor tell someone who was next to me that I was snooty. Having an instructor who knows nothing about me to judge me in such a way, not only was it disappointing because I am paying for an expensive service but it didn't the fit of ethos of the subject matter: Pilates. I left Pilates feeling very disappointed and I will not be returning. Many months later I was crossing the road and I heard a guy laugh as he made comment to the other passenger in the car, I recognised the voice as the same Pilates Instructor as he drove past in his car, I won't post what was said but it was once again another judgmental comment. I have now seen that there are new gyms now like the Pure Gym which also offer Pilates classes for no extra cost which is great.

I have attended many reformer classes, but nothing compares to this place. These guys really know what they are talking about. Their carefully-designed workout has improved my posture, toned my body and strengthened my core beyond belief. Wild horses couldn't drag me away from there, and I fully intend to attend until I die. ps. They are also great people to spend time with!

A great studio, with Stott machines (these are the best, by a long way) and, more importantly, a very knowledgeable instructor - TJ. Don't look anywhere else for a Pilates instructor, especially if you're using Pilates as a way to any address physical problems you may have. TJ's knowledge is second to none. My own experience means that I wish I'd discovered this studio 30 years ago when I first started having back problems, because it would have saved me a fortune on osteopathic treatments.

Brilliant Applied Pilates Studio/Teacher Teejay's Pilates Studio is not like your average Pilates class. He really focuses in on your specific needs and tailors an applied Pilates programme to your needs. Combined with Physiotherapy, Massage and his knowledge of training and nutrition, this makes a fantastic combination for a huge variety of people with a range of different goals. Teejay works with me and 3 other professional Squash Players to keep us fit and healthy, strengthen our cores and improve all round body conditioning. One of Teejay's specialities is Back problems of all varieties (as well as many other injuries). Core strength is generally what is lacking when you get injured and Teejay is the man to see if this is the case!

This welcoming and highly professional Pilates studio is extremely well-equipped but, most important of all, the staff makes the most inexperienced of visitors feel at home. I was interested in finding out more about the benefits of Pilates but was very nervous of even entering a studio, it was completely out of my comfort zone. However, the way Teejay teaches Applied Pilates means that the programme offered is exactly that, applied to you as an individual and where you are at physically and mentally. No one is going to force you to do more than you are ready for and the benefits are greater as a result. Nerves diminish and self esteem improves, not to mention the improvement to posture and persistent aches and pains. Potentially life changing and thoroughly recommended.
