Initial . impact is ... Wow, nice. Closer inspection and you see stained carpets, ceiling mould, cracked flaking paint, and poorly cleaned radiators. Beds are hard sprung and uncomfortable. On the upside, you get a bath suite and a realistic bedroom, no spartan there here, the room I was in had a hairdryer too. Basic without being 'too' bad.

Used to be good but I find it needs cleaning up. Good staff but that's it. Had food there slow roasted pork needed chain saw to cut it. And they put gravey all over it. I don't like the stuff I think they should put it on the table for the people that won't it

Booked for 5 days. Arrived to find hotel is nothing like described on their website. Hotel sign broken off, reception seemed to be in a cupboard with the bar...’lounge with open fire’ looked like something from an old people’s home and even though it was a freezing cold week, the fire was never lit. The room was awful, decorated in dark brown, with old dark brown furniture, curtains and what I think was a carpet from the 60s...the lights were all ridiculously dim with very low wattage bulbs ( so you don’t see the grime), the walls and ceilings are badly marked, patched, paint peeling off and signs of damp. The dark brown carpet is very very old, filthy, badly stained and worn thin...disgusting. The bed is the worst bed I’ve ever seen in a hotel, old and worn out, creaky and uncomfortable...should have been thrown away years ago. The bedding consisted of old dark brown covers etc. Cleaning was non existent. My room was not cleaned in the whole 5 days I was there and has evidently not been cleaned for a very long time...a quick check under the bed and sideboard revealed a host of thick grime as well as many articles including a chocolate bar dared 2012...On inspection, the bath contained a layer of dark bristle, hopefully from someone’s beard. The shower dribbled out water but was impossible to regulate temperature...but worse than all, and quite frankly I found insulting, was on at least two occasions my dirty towels were lifted off the floor, folded up and placed on the bed to appear as clean towels !! I find it hard to believe any of the good reviews for this hotel....several guests I spoke with were of the same opinion, one person said he complained but was put into another room of similar poor standard. On a positive note, a couple of the staff appeared friendly, the food tasted very nice, even if a bit pricey, there is ample free parking and apparently free WiFi if you are lucky. I have to return to Walsall a few more times in the future but will definitely NOT be staying here.

Nice and friendly staff. The room was clean and comfortable. Had a very good time. Not a "all room is the same standard" kind, more like a family feeling. Had a nice breakfast also. Very competitive price, parking front of the hotel.
