  The hotel is a nice old building, the rooms are nice however we didnt get the room that had come up on the site while booking. Nice quiet bar although the staff were very unenthusiastic and looked like they didn't want to be there. There was a £10 fee for parking and this was not specified before arrival. The room was small for 4 people and was absolutely boiling throughout the whole night. The shower had no hot water and the bath took over 30 minuets to fill up enough. Only one of the bedroom windows opened and it was only slightly. Beds and pillows weren't very comfortable. It's alright for a 1 night stay. Close - ish to the city center.

  The staff were lovely and the service was quick and efficient. The restaurant was pleasant and we had the best table by the window. However, when we arrived in the early evening the car park was almost full - we took the last space. I would certainly go again.

  Good location for exploring York, slightly out of the hustle and bustle of the city centre. Clean, chic rooms (if you like your decoration with a slight WWII flair!) well-provisioned for a comfortable stay. The breakfast was good too.

  Visited York for my husbands surprise birthday weekend. Very clean rooms, very friendly staff. However, very noisy and disturbing for even deep sleepers like my husband. Room shakes literally when someone else on the same floor closes their door startling you awake. I thought the walls would be thicker given the age of the building. Way too noisy. Room was small for the price to be honest. £224 for two nights in a small double. And when I say small double, it was small, although it was clean. I don't think I would return here.

  We stayed in The Churchill Hotel over the night for my boyfriend's birthday. It's located only 10 min walk from the train station, close to the city centre. The receptionist was very welcoming, we could drop our luggage there because our room wasn't ready yet, we arrived 2 hours before checking in. He gave us map of the city and advised us were to go and what to see in York in one day. Room was cute, warm and tidy. We booked for breakfast in their two AA restaurant, which had lovely service and delicious food. Overall, very satisfied with our stay there.
