  Visited here twice for valentine's Day. Wonderful hotel and Amazing staff! We stayed in the penthouse for our first stay which was huge with great facilities and second time we stayed we were in a double bedroom which was also huge . The customer service is 5 star! Staff can't do enough for you . We went in the jacuzzi and spa both times which was a bonus ! Breakfast was delicious which a great range of hot/cold choice. Rooms were spotless and the hotel has a very cosy Victorian feel. Would definitely recommend. Quite expensive but worth it .

  When staying in York the Mount Royale is always my first choice. A family run hotel within ten minutes of Micklegate so it's an excellent location for exploring the city and beyond. I have stayed at the Mount Royale several times, i have stayed in multiple rooms and they have all been clean and spacious. The staff are the friendliest and most helpful hotel staff I have ever come across. The breakfast options are fantastic. Lots of cereals etc to choose from before you hit the main cooked breakfast menu. The English breakfast is awesome and cooked to order so it's always fresh. You can change the breakfasts to your own tastes, nothing is a too much trouble for the breakfast staff. The seating area outside is always nice to sit in and eat your breakfast on a hot day. Would certainly stop there again.

  Really friendly but not fussy staff and that was from everybody. Large comfortable room that was very clean and well appointed. The food was outstanding including a huge selection at breakfast. Well up to and over two rosettes standard. Easy access to the city and the parks. Not a large hotel so you were made to feel valued and wanted. Would come back again.

  I was visiting York for the first time and wanted a warm, friendly hotel - Mount Royale is set in two beautiful historical buildings, covered in ivy, and family-run since the 1960s. The staff couldn't have been nicer, and the breakfast was outstanding - set in a quiet room where you have a selection of fresh croissants, cereals and juices, and then order as much hot breakfast as you like to order - the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs were some of the best I've ever had! The room was very comfortable, with a super king size bed and bathtub included, with nice pillows, and a full tea and cafetiere coffee selection provided. The bar is super cosy with comfy leather sofas and an open fire, with a very impressive gin selection. I appreciate that its traditional charm won't be for everyone, but it was exactly what I fancied and I'd give it two huge thumbs up.

  I couldn’t recommend this hotel enough. Absolutely stunning hotel, beautiful decor. Friendliest of staff. Our room was faultless, absolutely immaculate and so spacious. Breakfast was divine. Had the best massage ever from holly she was a diamond!! I can’t wait to come back here
