  Go here most Sunday mornings while Sam is at Archery. Great boozer and great bacon sangers. Friendly staff that always make you feel at home.

  We enjoyed our visit, especially when we were allowed to use the table in the Hotel reception, by a lovely roaring fire, as no other tables available. The service was good, friendly staff and our meals were very good.

  Great location with large well lit car park. The pub itself is traditional with friendly staff and a good range of food. The food does take time to come but has always been very nice when it does.

  A pleasant place to stop on the cusp of the Peak District and worth the extra 30 minutes walk along the river from Forge Dam; a visit made all the more rewarding when walking as you crest the hill on the public footpath and beer/food is in sight. It has a small but enjoyable selection of ales and a reasonably priced and varied menu, which is cooked well and comes in generous portions. The only seating available is restaurant-style table seating, which can feel a little formal, especially if you just want to pop in for resfreshments after a walk. Unless you book in advance there will likely be a short wait at the bar, so worth keeping your eyes peeled to poach a table as soon as one is free (then order your foodat the bar). Also has outdoor seating and picnic tables.

  We've just popped in after a good walk and we were greeted with the usual, genuine warm welcome. We had 4 meals off the light bites menu and I can honestly say, that was the best steak and ale pie we have ever had. The boys had scampi and bangers and mash and both meals were fantastic. Great value too and a really good friendly atmosphere. We will definitely come here again
