Lovely meal in the brasserie, with friendly and attentive staff. Decor modern but welcoming. A small but very good wine list. Will definitely be going back.

Went for afternoon tea. The food was great but the service was poor to non-existent. We had to ask for drinks several times and after being directed to our table, we had to go hunting for staff any time we needed anything. Not a bad experience, but nothing to rave about either.

Not impressed We stayed there for 2 nights and all i can say is that i am not impressed! Great potential but no passion from the staff/management to make it into a wonderful experience for their guests. 1. We were extremely disappointed that the hotel didn't care to notify its staying guests that as we have booked our room two months ago we also should have booked a table in their restaurant for dinner! So amazingly on arrival on a Friday late afternoon me and my husband had to wonder the streets of Winchester to find some comfort and food as our own hotel didn't account to look after their staying guests. My advice to the management - give your staying guests the chance to eat in your restaurant if they are staying in your hotel may be they have a desire for the convenience to eat there as well- tell them that they need to book a table. 2. The cleaner left our room open all day long and as we were walking around Winchester all day we were pleasantly surprised to see our room with all our luggage open at 5pm in the afternoon 3. The spa - the water was cold /warmish - people were genuinely using the steam room and sauna to warm themselves up. There were also some weird white/see through staff swiming in the pool. 4. The breakfast- the hostess wanted to place me in the tiny low table at the bar for two days in a row and i had to physically beg her to walk with me inside the main restaurant so i can do her job and find a clean table for two as she couldn't be bothered to do it herself and the easier option would have been to put us in the bar tables which were really uncomfortable- there were more people sitting having breakfast in the bar area than in the main restaurant. Also the other excuse was that they couldn't place us on a table for 4 if its only the two of us !! I understand if it was the last table for4 available but there were at least 10 free and 4 couples sitting at the bar on a low table because of that! My advice to management - keep on top of your tables and may be keep the last two tables of 4 free not all of them (the restaurant was always just about 30% full for breakfast at all time and you are putting people to sit at the bar??? it just didn't make sense! 5. The TV didn't work across the entire hotel throughout the whole stay and all we got was "sorry" from reception and a look on her face as if saying "go find other ways to entertain yourself" we didn't get any discount or compensation.

Attended just for the spa after reading some really good reviews. I was not disappointed! The hotel entrance and bar were somewhat busy but not crowded at all, the reception was clean and had a nice floral scent rather than smelling like cleaning products. The spa itself was lovely, the private lounge, well decorated treatment rooms and amazingly friendly staff made the whole experience a day to remember. Will be going back again soon!

First time stay at the hotel. Booked for New Years Eve. Booked a suite and wasn't disappointed. Hotel was spotlessly clean. Fast efficient friendly professional staff on reception. Although we had a set meal it was cooked and presented well with very fast service. The only complaint that I can make was actually about part of the meal. We ordered what was on the menu as Lamb Wellington. In fact it was not Lamb and in actual fact it was beef. So a little let down at dinner for that reason. I didn't complain at the time as the restaurant was very busy.
