    Appalled. My parents (father 80 and mother mid-seventies) booked a last minute villa holiday with Thomas Cook. They provided detailed requirements which included accessibility to supermarkets, restaurants and local resort etc (my mother needs a walking stick and cannot walk long distances) and they clearly stated that they did not wish to hire a car. A holiday was booked on good faith last week with Thomas Cook. On further research, we discovered that the villa was miles from the nearest resort and located on a road with no path - picture an elderly couple walking in a foreign country on a busy road with traffic moving in both directions. We tried to change the villa at the earliest opportunity. An incredibly helpful agent at Thomas Cook suggested that this villa should not have been recommended in the first place as it clearly stated that a car was essential and did her utmost to find an alternative holiday for my parents. However, in order to change the villa to one more suitable for an elderly couple with disabilities (which should have been suggested in the first place) Thomas Cook has charged 70% in cancellation on a villa that they recommended in the first place (approximately £2,000) because "the villa is fine - there is a bus stop at the end of the road."     Went in with little or no idea where to go for a lads holiday, spent a good time with us discussing what we wanted from the holiday (stuff to do during the day). Spoke about everything to us, from health insurance and what it covered to the things we needed to be wary off. Feel like they went above and beyond in order to give us the best holiday.

    Update We have just arrived home from Lanzarote and can't help but feel cheated. Jan the Lady praised below told us we would be in a 4 star HOTEL on the 8th floor with a view of the ocean and a heated swimming pool. She said the hotel was really nice and that we should ignore the Trip Advisor bad reviews. So, My wife and I stayed in a maximum of a 2 star ground floor bungalow that was very very dirty - we didn't expect to be slumming it given the money we happily parted with. There is no 8th floor as local law says 5 floors only so all rooms were on ground level. We did not have a view of the coast, more like a view of the road nearby. The swimming pool was freezing and avoided by all but the one or two heroes that just dived in. We really regret making this choice which we feel was pushed on us. The Trip Advisor reviews are just about right really. Beware everyone. ****** We went in here for the sole purpose of booking a holiday in the Canary Islands and received excellent service from a man with a clipboard who was expediting us customers around in an orderly fashion. The fast service got us in front of Jan who recognised everything we wanted and booked our holiday. Although it took a good hour to book we feel we were shown good options and lots of choices from Jan. If we enjoy the holiday we will most certainly be back David
