  I hadn't realized my passport needed to be over three months from expiring before entering Italy so I had to get an emergency passport. I didn't find the website very useful as there was old forms and contradictory information. I made an appointment for first thing in the morning. I would highly recommend that as the line had at least 75 people in it by the time we left. The embassy has two tents outside, one for visas and one for passports. You have to wait outside in line, then go through security (don't bring a laptop or suitcase or they won't let you in) and then wait in the next building. When you get upstairs you get a number and wait for them to call you. The process was very efficient and took about an hour and ten minutes total. I came with my paperwork and passport pictures but they have the forms and a photo booth there in case you need it. Overall, get there as early as possible and you should get your passport in less than an hour and a half.

  I am a US citizen that had my passport, all ID and credit cards stolen from my rental vehicle. Thank goodness my husband had his wallet but his passport was stolen too. (I had my mobile phone with a digital copy of my driver's license and passport.) Anyhow, I called their line and was able to obtain an appointment for a new passport the next day. I was able to go online and complete most of the temporary application after making the appointment. We arrived at the appointed time and were in and out of the embassy in less than an hour. I don't remember the exact cost but it was around $150 a passport. You will also need a new passport picture. We had ours taken at a photo shop near a tube station but the embassy had a picture booth on the floor below passports. Anyhow, the temporary passport is good for one year and there is no cost to replace it. We really appreciated the service and professionalism of the embassy personnel.

  Surprisingly good experience. Was visiting the US Embassy early this week to attend the businesses visa interview. It is Friday today and my passport with the visa has just arrived. Very well structured office and organised and efficient team. Many thanks!

  So much better than the old one!! The new US Embassy is a huge improvement on the previous one. No waiting outside in the cold and rain, no more huge packed waiting room from hell! It was all sleek, modern and far more fast moving than previously. I went there expecting to spend half a day waiting like last time and I was out in under an hour. A huge improvement. The new building is stunning as well.

  I was denied a chance to visit my family because do not own property in UK and I am single! What a joke, they knew this from my application but still happy to take money from me and schedule an interview. No chance of presenting any supporting documents! Do they really think I'm going to abandon my life here after 12 years of paying taxes, really good job that gives me private health insurance , dental plan , covers my travel to work and lunch and private pension? All this to become an illegal immigrant with no hope for the future in a country run by an idiot?
