  Went today and the indoor pools were freezing - they said they had a problem with the temperature but it was actually too cold to get in . They were empty . I saw kids get in then straight out again . They always seem to do pool maintenance or have pool issues during school holidays - beginning to think they want the kids money but not the kids themselves - can’t be a coincidence as this always happens . Our main reason for joining is the pool and it’s regularly a let down . It’s often cold although today was exceptionally cold . Been going for a year but it’s definitely going downhill - most staff are nice but its grubby . Needs a facelift and temperature rise in pool . Parking on a football day is impossible . Will be leaving this month and moving to David Lloyd . I know other people who are doing the same . would not recommend the place to anyone . Such a shame as could be so much better than it is

  Great gym, DISGUSTING changing rooms and showers. I use other Virgin Active all over & this is by far the worst standard of cleanliness. Why would I want other peoples sock fluff and loose hair in between my toes 🤢

  This health club is a treat. I use the pools and it’s such a luxury to have an outdoor pool. It’s hydrotherapy with the 2 adult pools, cold shower outside the steam room and hot showers in the changing rooms plus a jacuzzi and sauna. Feel great afterwards. The staff are all approachable and helpful. The gym is really well equipped with experienced staff to advise if needed. The cafe is pleasant too, nice healthy food and drinks. It’s not snobby or elitist and I feel totally comfortable going alone. The exercise classes have really good teachers too. I always look forward to going there.

  In my experience you don't get your money's worth. There always seem to be maintenance issues which are disruptive and reduced prices aren't offered as gestures of goodwill. The large pool & spa were closed for weeks and we were promised we would benefit from the improvements, its hard to see what these improvements are after they made such a big thing of it. The ladies showers cubicles were in poor state of repair for months. Pool & spa temperatures are inconsistent, showers sometimes cold. Ladies & gents changing rooms have currently swapped for more maintenance even though the mens urinals are out of action, they still smell, it's not pleasant. Just been sent a text to inform me that the large pool and spa will be out of action again for a week (but the outdoor pool will be open (it's October!!) I pay to use a decent swimming pool mainly and classes. I have expressed my concerns several times but nothing is ever resolved to a satisfactory response. If it was I wouldn't resort to this bog standard review.

  Place is a dump Kids swimming lessons going on consistently Up their own backsides staff Rude staff Unhelpful staff Changing rooms dirty Nowhere to park when busy Shame Virgin didn't manage to sell the place to David Lloyd...those guys may have been able to have the presence of mind to listen to their members and turn things around! UPDATED REVIEW - 5 September 2017 Nice to get a response. However, what would be more helpful than the habitual rhetoric given on negative reviews is for information to be shared as to what exactly is going to be done about the issues current and past members have stated. There is no reason for anyone detailing a negative review to discuss further with any member of staff, if the review was actually read and fully considered. As for suggestions as to how to improve service and facilities; the Virgin staff should read the reviews in full, consider in full what has been stated and they themselves come up with ideas to improve and implement. This is not rocket science....as the saying goes RTFI....!
