::We visited as a party of three adults (one with mobility difficulties), having never been to Cardiff before. We emailed in advance and received many timely and informative replies from Menna. All was arranged easily and efficiently, the entire visit to the Assembly being free of charge. There are security guards right at the entrance and so please be aware if you have scissors or other sharp objects they will keep them for the day (giving you a tag) and you can collect the item back when you leave the building. When we arrived inside we were greeted by a tour guide (Sam) and he was joined by a learning-to-be-a-tour-guide Gwern. Both were friendly and welcoming. Sam is by far one of the most knowledgeable guides we have had the pleasure of having. He told us a lot about the symbolism of the building, the history of the National Assembly for Wales as an institution and about the way the assembly works today. Although you are not allowed to go down to the chamber of the assembly (where the representatives sit), that did not detract one bit from our experience and we did feel the tour was 100% worth our time! We came out so much more knowledgeable about Wales as a country, it's people, its history and potential future. In the afternoon we did sit in and listen to the assembly in session, which was very interesting and added an element of reality to the theory that Sam had delivered in the morning. The building is 100% disability friendly; it has automatic doors, disabled toilets and lifts for access everywhere. Overall, we would say this was one of the easiest, most enjoyable, most informative and interesting visits to a sight and landmark that we have had. We thoroughly recommend it to everyone, regardless of how interested you are in politics, history, architecture or anything else that might make you wonder if its worth visiting. It definitely is!!!
