  Ordered a mixed tandoori. Asked for it to be taken away and a fresh one made as there was a serious lack of seasoning, visibly so. After a bit of grumbling the owner took it back and was back 2 mins later with a "fresh" one. Now bearing in mind it took nearly 20 for the first one I was immediately skeptical. Lo and behold it was the exact same plate of meat, which had merely been brushed with more tandoori paste and warmed back up. The owner stood over me waiting for me to eat and asked what I thought, I told him I had cut a distinct shape into each cut of meat and recognised this as the same plate and told him not to insult my intelligence and try to tell me this was a fresh dish (which he had the audacity to do). I politely informed him that being of Punjabi descent with a Kenyan stepmum I'm far from in ill-informed as to how tandoori should be prepared and cooked. Wouldn't have had much of a problem if he hadn't tried bare face lie to me and pull the wool over my eyes, but hey there's plenty of chancers out there. Partners korma was distinctly lacking any kind of aroma too. If you like an inexperienced Bangladeshi cook's attempt at Indian food with an owner who has a serious lack of business savvy then Zest is your place! Prices are definitely on the high side too. If you want honest reliable and relatively authentic Indian food, try Kebab Mahal or if you fancy takeaway, Desi Pakwan are the only true Punjabi cook's operating under the Punjabi moniker.

  The food was good but overly spicy and I eat a lot of indian food so that's saying something. They didn't offer water refills, I had to ask after completely finishing my first glass. Other than that the service was good.

  Excellent, every time I come to Edinburgh I have to visit zest. The food is excellent and the taxi driver special is too die for. Flavours are unbelievable and staff are so attentive and professional

  Ein modernes, gut frequentiertes Indisches Restaurant gehobener Qualität. Wir haben schon lange nicht mehr so gut indische gegessen wie hier. Abzug gibt es für die nicht vorgewärmten Teller und für die zu domimante Verwendung von Zucker in allen Speisen sogar im Naan Bread.
