We stayed for a weekend (Friday - Sunday) for a walking holiday. This is a very basic campsite so if you want all the frills of home life, I would suggest you look elsewhere. The owners were very friendly and no sign of the 'rudeness' that had been mentioned on other reviews. This campsite is not designed for children. There are two good pubs nearby where you can get a brilliant meal. I would definitely stay again.

If you can get past one of the owners, "Happy" as we call him, and don't mind slightly run down, albeit clean, bathrooms then this campsite is great. It's big, spacious, doesn't get over full, has good parking options, easily accessible fresh water, showers (coin operated) and it grass is well kept. However, the whole campsite is on a slant so prepare to sleep closely and against a wall with whoever is in the tent with you. The owners do not like youths, that's clear, although it must be from an abundance of complaints over the years. So if you're a group of girls/lads looking for a fun camping trip to get drunk and rowdy into the early hours then this campsite isn't for you.

We used this campsite in June as a base for our weekend of camping and hiking in peak District. It got pretty busy fairly quickly, but not too crowded. We were able to park on the grass next to our tent. About 3 different fields available to pitch. We chose the highest field with somewhat better views. Bathrooms aren't dirty but they are pretty shabby. Coin operated hot water shower. Cafe on site but didn't have their food. Nearby pub with tasty options. All in all it's ok. Good base for outdoor activities. But facilities could do with an upgrade.
