Looking to discover more about Stoke on Trent pottery we called in on Saturday and found an excellent museum staffed by friendly and welcoming people who provided demonstrations and opportunities to learn all about traditional pottery skills. There is a large well set out car park and a cafe you can access before going round the site. I can recommend the scones. The museum is clearly set out with numbered rooms showing a wealth of information. We saw demonstrations of pot throwing, casting in moulds, flower making, and flower decorating all done by skilled craftspeople who show enthusiasm and love for their work. The bottles kilns have to be seen to be believed and the conditions the workers must have endured is an eye opener. The final exhibition of lavatories through the ages would have appealed to our grandchildren who would have enjoyed the response to incorrect answers on the quiz wall. The three hours we spent there passed so quickly that we did not notice the time pass. A great place to visit, a great day out. I now understand what a sagger makers bottom knocker did for a living.

Visited several times and for a compact site always learn something new. It's fabulous with easy free parking. Fantastic exhibits and examples of ceramics, restored bottle kilns, doctors house, colour room and offices. Usually something interesting happening, demonstrations or workshops. The cafe isn't outstanding but fine for a quick snack.

Visited for our 9th wedding anniversary. Really informative and fun day out. There is also an area where you can throw your own pottery on a wheel. Many keepsakes for all the family.

We spent an interesting afternoon there. There's more than I remember from when I went many many moons ago. Nearly all was wheelchair accessible and even though it seemed there were only a handful of people visiting in the snowy day we went, they were happy to do all the demonstrations. Really interesting section on the history of the toilet but perhaps nosepegs are required for those who are a bit sensitive!

Really great place, so much to see and do. It's amazing how long you can spend here as it doesn't look that big. The staff are all friendly and informative. Top three highlights the toilet exhibition, throwing your own pot to take home and the delicious oatcakes but it's all great. The shop has some lovely things. Painting was also fun. All for such a reasonable price. Would love to visit again.
