Have used this hotel several times for work meetings, at least once a month for the last 6 months. The staff are fantastic, food is brilliant and everything always runs smooth. We sometimes stay the night before too and the staff are always helpful when we do, from food recommendations to taxis. Will keep booking in the future

Dated and tired hotel but room clean and en suite good. Great location for lark lane with good choice of bars and eating places. Also good value for money

Pleasant, medium sized hotel with friendly staff for whom nothing is a problem (true hospitality standards). The same can be said for most, if not all, of it's Duty Managers too. Nice, comfortable, clean rooms with good colour schemes (not bland), decent size flat-screen tv's, heavy curtains, and excellent ensuite bathrooms (even in Classic rooms). A pleasant surprise upon arrival ! Rooms in original building benefit from high ceilings too, so are light & airey. All floors are served by one small lift, if required. The hotel overlooks the large Sefton Park and is situated in a quieter but pleasant location. A limited amount of parking is available on site with additional on-street & the area is safe. Breakfast is good and offers a fairly wide choice, with cooked English, danish style patries etc. Dinner options are available in two areas (although formal dining room is small, quiet & not particularly inviting !) The Glasshouse has a more relaxed, contemporary atmosphere. Again, the food is qood for the offering. A smallish, additional bar area also exists (quieter). The hotel provides, an extensive room service menu too & has limited overnight hot food available (although I wouldn't recommend the latter !!). Evening meals served until around 9pm, kitchen closes early. On the down side, food service slows if hotel (kitchen) has a function to attend to as well & The Glasshouse is sometimes closed for private functions, which limits dining options ! (There is a good Italian restaurant nearby & within easy walking distance though !). Also note that Reception staff seem to do a lot of the fetching & carrying to rooms. Usually excellent prompt service but a v. small team, so be patient with them. Good transport (bus) links nearby, to City Centre & attractions etc. Probably not ideal for guests who are not driving or wish to stay in the midst of things. Overall, excellent value for money and a fairly broad base of clientelle/guest. Would stay here again. **Review based upon stay between 8-12 April, 2018 (main/orig) building.

Paid alot of money, for a very small room it was old, dark, old fashioned and cold. The bathroom was messy, it wasn't clean. We got told it was "the last room as they were fully booked." But a small room wouldn't be a problem with the appropriate decoration and price. Bed was also very uncomfortable due to the fact, me and my partner had springs in our backs all night. It was room 48 if that helps the hotel to improve it. I am staying in a different hotel the following night, which is half the price, double the size, clean and in a better location. I was happy about the off street parking. The staff were lovely and welcoming but that doesn't make up for the rest.

I just want to say how impressed i've been by the service i've received. The prompt answering of the phone , being put straight through to Jen who was always there. A lovely surprise on Saturday afternoon to be upgraded to afternoon tea rather than a cream tea. I had wanted to give mum an afternoon tea for Mothers Day but couldn't afford it which is why i had book the cream tea so i was pleased she got to have one. The staff on saturday were very attentive. My daughter had her works Xmas party here in December and she was very impressed. They are returning again this year. would definitely recommend this hotel. Cathy O'Connor
