::The hotel was beautiful and the rooms were lovely and clean and concierge staff very attentive. Bar staff and service very slow and drinks expensive. Food in restaurant was good but very small portions and staff not forthcoming with items such as bread and water etc we had to keep asking. Food doesn’t really warrant any of the extra surcharges. Choices of starters and desserts were poor also.

::My first time to a health spa so a blank sheet to work from. My girlfriend booked us both in for the day and I had an full body massage. A pleasant experience and a relaxing day but I could have lived without it if that makes sense. Staff very friendly and helpful, the afternoon tea was also nice. The fabric of the building is worn and indeed of repairing which is a shame as it's a impressive building in a nice location.

::Poor experience I was invited here for afternoon tea to celebrate my niece's 21st birthday. Service was slow, but polite and helpful. The bread on the sandwiches was verging on stale - they had clearly been sitting around for some considerable time since being made. The scones and cakes looked good, but tasted very ordinary and unexciting. The Champagne was very pleasant, although very light in style, more like a Prosecco than Champagne (which was fine for me). Some of the problems might be forgivable were it not for the premium pricing - £37 for afternoon tea with a glass of Champagne (which is £2 more than advertised on the hotel website). As an invited guest, I did not pay the bill, and did not feel it appropriate to complain at the time, but the overall experience was poor. During conversation it also transpired that guests staying at the hotel have to pay a £15 per day charge to park their car. For a supposedly high quality hotel, this is unique in my experience.

::Stayed for 2 nights. The room was a high spec with tidy and spacious bathroom supplied with ample soap, shampoo etc. Bed was so comfy we miss it already. All furnishings fully working and tidy. Dinner included on price of room for the first night, it was delicious I had hake and mash main which was a high light. Spa in the hotel is ok. Pool is small in comparison to the size of the hotel, their aren't enough beds around the pool for guests to keep towels etc although their aren't many ways around this. The outside heated pool is great, however I had 2 tiles come off just from where I was sitting! The grounds of the hotel are magnificent and a times it does seem that as a hotel the exterior of the hotel and quality of the presentation far outweigh the inside of the hotel. Hallways seem aged and have an interesting smell to them. Overall it's a nice hotel, the room we stayed in was fantastic and in general staff were fine even if the restaurant staff are a bit lifeless especially at dinner. We will be back.

::Went for a spa day and massage. Treatment was great, and spa facilities decent. Certainly had a relaxing time. No staff on desk when we arrived, seemed surprised to see us when someone eventually came. Strange start. Same thing happened to other groups we saw arriving later. Outdoor pool was nice and hot. Cream tea was good.
