  Normally no issues, but I had to get a form signed by a doctor stating that I can have laser surgery as I have an underactive thyroid. Was just told that I need to £30 for this luxury and I can't pay over phone but have to come in with cash. Which means I have to pay for the bus as well, as I cannot get there in time otherwise. The form just needs two ticks and a signature. Pretty doubtfull that a doctor would take a very long time to fill this in. I don't understand why a £30 charge. I'd understand £10, max £15, but £30 is a bit of a liberty. I'm livid as have to get this signed in order to get my surgery, for which I am already spending a fortune on!!

  Unfortunately, my experience with the receptionist at the Old Machar Medical Practice was far from pleasant. I asked for advice to see a doctor urgently (I had serious breathing issues) and the best help she could give me was "fill this form and come back with a proof of residence, then we'll see when you can meet the doctor". Once I replied I could not provide a proof of residence yet as I moved to Aberdeen just 2 weeks before, she told me there was nothing else they could do and did not give me any advice, or show any empathy. Not sure of the reasons for this awful experience at the reception (rudeness? Hostility towards "foreigners"? Lack of basic customer service training?), but this is definitely not the way a health services provider should deal with this kind of situation. I won't come back.

  Its taken me 20 years to find a practice i was happy with in Aberdeen. It is a very busy practice but the receptionists are very kind and professional. The practice makes good use of modern technology you can book appointments and request repeat prescriptions online. They even have a second practice where you can also book appointments. Amazing links with other services too.

  Been going here all my life. Doctors and Nurses are really nice and friendly. The receptionists I'm not keen on them. They ask you what's wrong so the can put you to the right doctor. To me that is wrong, you should be able to go and see the doctor you feel comfortable with.

  Terrible doctors, do nothing right! One tried to test for a food intolerance when I hadn't eaten that food in weeks (a requirement). Another told me a problem was psychological and sent me to a counselor without even examining me (it was physical). A third wrote me a sick note saying there was no evidence of me being ill when it was there in my history. Useless!
