Now they have open Waterloo tea room at the pier. They have one of the best teas in Cardiff. And of course Tony's take away makes amazing pizzas and chips.

The Pavilion is a lovely place to visit but perhaps a bit rich for a commoner like myself. The surroundings are stunning and the Pier is a wonderful place to visit. Parking is almost a competitive sport in the area and things can get a bit Mad Max when there's three cars battling for one space.

The pier was clean and tidy, however there were only 2 shops open-an ice cream shop and a sweet shop. This might have had something to do with it being November, so don't know what the shop availability is like during the summer. The beach is covered in stones and shells so no sand, but the promenade makes for a very nice afternoon walk. Suitable for pushchairs too.

A lovely old pier, still doing what it was designed to do from day one; give an impression of being "at sea" when actually on dry land. Penarth Pier Pavilion and Gallery is worth a detour, and also worth seeking out a parking spot when you get there. We had excellent service to coffee and delicious cake (one of which was spinach and pistachio - very good!) in interesting and very well thought out surroundings, a credit to the people who work to maintain it as such. We ate in the Gallery, probably the quieter side of the building. A walk to the end of the pier (access is free) was a joy (it was a sunny day!). Apart from the foreshore, there's not an awful lot of interest on this side of Penarth, but the Pier with its Pavilion is not to be missed!

Enjoyable place to visit. This may sound like a bit of a 'cop out' but simply, Penarth and it's pier is a what you make it' kind of place. The cafe on the pier is not very big. It has adequate service and fodder. The building it is housed in is lovely. The end of pier is given to anglers. The pebble beach over which the pier spans is clean and our children had fun throwing stones and looking for shells. .
