We were accommodated for high tea, thirteen of us. The food quality was excellent and the waiting staff were sharp and funny.

Easy to get to by car or rail. Staff are attentive and friendly. Food is amazing. On a previous visit we stayed overnight and the rooms were clean and roomy.

Pre wedding drinks, very good service from wine waiter, nice atmosphere, some sofas too near the ground, would be difficult to get up, otherwise fine

Lovely place for relaxing in on a cold night, friendly, well trained and dressed staff and good coffee and hot chocolate. Traditional but comfortable decor with a Victorian feel, with large sofas and warm fireplaces. Recommended for anyone wanting a quiet place to eat and drink.

We stayed 2 nights in the bridal sweet (we just booked the last available room) and were blown away when we arrived. The room was huge! (bigger than our apartment back home!) With stylish, contemporary decor, king size bed, sofa, mounted flat screen, table chairs, sitting desk and vanity. The bathroom had a 2 person shower and corner bath. We liked it so much we didn't want to leave the room! (although we had to as we were in town for a wedding) Very helpful and friendly staff throughout our stay. Breakfast was quite early 7-9:30am with a very lovely selection of fruits (fresh and tinned) cereals, yoghurt, croissants (the cheap kind), juices and a good selection of hot breakfast. Better vegetarian options would have been welcome - my vegan partner had an underwhelming choice of mushrooms, Tomatoes and beans. I enjoyed the pancakes both mornings, once with haggis (a request they were happy to acquiesce to) and once with bacon - not the crispy American kind unfortunately. (as may be implied by the menu : pancakes, bacon and maple syrup). The berry compote from the buffet went excellently with the pancakes too! It's a traditional establishment, which is in keeping with the surrounding area.
