  A disappointingly small portion. Pie and mash is usually filling and this wasn't. Tasty but miserly. The acoustics in the restaurant are awful. So noisy.

  Stayed over the weekend with my girlfriend. It's in a beautiful spot in the new forest with really friendly staff and a cosy and clean atmosphere. Being a young couple, we have often had hotel staff treat us differently from other 'more respected' guests but not here; here they treated us like anybody else and it was very welcome. The room was a perfect size for us, the bed was amazing, the shower and bath combo was lovely and our room was even equipped with a terrace. We had breakfast included in our booking and were entitled to up to £12 each for it, which was very generous as the most expensive breakfast item was only about £9. The dining area was spacious and never too crowded and the food was delicious. We went on many walks around the hotel in the new forest and to Ashurst for dinner about a mile and a half down the road from the hotel. The whole stay was really great and we're already deciding when to return. Finally, the hotel puts it's trademark hand-made stuffed animals in each room which are also available to purchase in the shop, a gift which made my girlfriend very happy. So thank you Spot in the Woods staff for an amazing experience, I'm sure we will be back :)

  Amazing place to visit while in the New Forest. Be prepared to wait for a table and well worth the wait. Amazing venison and red wine pie, and burgers to blow your mind

  Absolutely wonderful. Recently undergone a change of name from Hotel Terravina to Spot in the Woods. The rooms were immaculately clean and comfortable - the water pressure in the power shower was worth the room rate alone. We thoroughly enjoyed breakfast (have the sausage sandwich - trust me) and the excellent, excellent coffee. A good selection of excellent rural pubs a short taxi ride away, this is the perfect weekend getaway. We arrived in the middle of a snowstorm but it did little to detract from our enjoyment. Will definitely be returning!

  Lovely hotel in a peaceful location. The staff were friendly and the room was just as we hoped. Really liked the idea of the kitchen cafe. Had a relaxing few days, good walks all around. Can't praise it enough! Hope to return in early summer.
