  Good food, decent measures, very friendly staff , booking seems essential as very popular , drink s are normal pub prices , meals are a fair price

  We normally visit a few times a week and always order the parmesan which is normally delicious, however this time I have to say is the it was most dissapointing! After asking the young girl could she find out why the chicken was so rubbery she came back from the management with the reply because it's fresh chicken breast! After working many kitchens I'd asked are u sure it's not reheated (as I know over heating in a microwave can make chicken like rubber) no it's fresh was the reply! I wasn't offered a replacement or a refund for my uneaten meal but I did hear them laughing in the kitchen when the young girl returned the meal. Needless to say we won't return nor recommend !

  Tasty homemade pub grub. Place very popular, staff friendly. Would recommend. If you are going to eat with a large party must book a table. 3 in our party just waited 5 mins for a table had drink a bar before being seated.

  Today I thought I would treat my mum, two daughters and a 3 year old and a new baby. We have been to the Gables many times and always enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. However! Today we had our food delivered all on time, lovely. Then my daughter asked very politely for a small plate to put some of the toddler's lunch on as it was all piping hot. All we wanted was to split the food and cut it up so that it cooled down. We were met with "sorry we can't give you an extra plate" !! Why? We asked but were given a silly excuse about we can't give you an extra plate but we can charge £1.50 for one.!!! WHAT!!! We asked to speak to a man who said he was manager 'for the time being as the manager was out'. He also said no to a small plate. Were they afraid we were going to feed someone else with half a toddler's meal? We could not believe it and it did spoil the meal overall. Maybe we should carry our own toddler plate when we go out to eat, although maybe we would have been asked not to use it there. We had to use paper napkins. Unbelievable!!!!!.
