  Proper town pub, good beer and friendly staff. Live music. Great band playing tonight, The Strand.

  We stop by the Nelson most Friday's after work for an hour or two, this pub is a nice place to unwind and watch the cruise ships go out. At around 5pm they could do with some extra help as the service is a little slow until the evening staff start. The bar staff are very good at their jobs and very friendly. The pub in general is tidy and well kept apart from The men's toilets are a little grim and sometimes swimming in pee. Not a bad place Cheers

  Long passed its heyday, the glory days have gone maybe for the better (old days it was easier to piss on the high st than try & get to the toilets). Love the front bars on a Friday Saturday & Sunday genuine bunch of locals. Steer clear of the modern back bar full of nons!!
