  Avoid at all costs. I stopped outside to shelter from the rain, when I heard a lot of swearing, but just ignored it. It got louder! I then looked around to see a person stood in the doorway of this pub and was swearing at me... He then proceeded to behave in a threatening manner towards me saying "what would you do if I F***8* smacked you in the face?" and then proceeded to remove his backpack, so I just told him to go away and walked off. Lord knows what this place must be like if people like this go in there.

  The Stag And Hounds pub has been a feature of Bristol's music scene for many years. It has recently had a bit of a refurb, and now looks much cleaner and smarter. I had a friendly welcome from both the barman and the landlord, and there was a good selection of beers, ciders and spirits available. The pub is handy for pre-gig drinks for concerts at The Exchange venue next door, and is only twenty minutes walk from the bus station in one direction, and roughly the same distance from Temple Meads train station in the other.

  A good pub to watch music and a great arcade machine
