::I came to Edinburgh in 2006 and was looking for an Iyengar studio. I knew about the traditional Bruntsfield centre but was keen to find something smaller where classes focus on more individualised teaching. This is the case when you enter Yoga Stable and are lucky enough to be taught by Anna Maria. For those of us who are stiff in the back and hips, the rope classes offer a great opening and I find the practice of partner work suits my learning style. I highly recommend this studio for anyone on their yoga journey...

::I have been attending classes here since the studio opened, so over time, I have been taught by most of the teachers at least once. The teachers are all certified Iyengar teachers and therefore have an excellent understanding of both yoga and anatomy. Between genetic stiffness and decades of bad postural habits and desk jobs I was in very bad shape when I started yoga. After starting with astanga I tried Iyengar, and found the modified positions and props slowly opened and realigned the problem areas that were causing me so much pain. This studio was designed from scratch to be an Iyenger studio, with a fantastic range of props for people like me who will never be as nimble as a ballet dancer. The small studio size means the class numbers are also small, which allows each student more personal attention from the excellent teachers. The light and airy feel of the studio encourages the mind into relaxation mode. I always recommend the yoga stable to anyone I meet who is thinking about taking up yoga.

::I'd highly recommend Yoga Stable for anyone who wants to learn Iyengar-style yoga in Edinburgh. Classes are friendly and welcoming, in a small studio, clean, bright and well-equipped. The teacher is skilled, energetic and encouraging. Classes are full of variety, with a good mix of physical work and yoga philosophy.

::I have very different experiences from two of the other reviewers - I have been going to Yoga Stable (mainly Annamaria's classes) since it opened (4 yrs ago I think) first as a beginner but now level 2. I have arthritis in many joints and the teachers have been so helpful working with my body that I am amazed how much I have improved, so I can't agree there is no compassion - I get it every week! There are cheaper classes in Edinburgh but you get what you pay for, in this case highly skilled teachers and a friendly small class. So don't be put off by those other two reviews, it would be a shame if you missed out on Yoga Stable.

::I have to agree with James review below.... this is not the place to come if you are a beginner. There seemed to be very little help or compassion for those of us who are not naturally bendy. The studio was cold and dirty... Give a wide berth!!!!
