Me and my friend are on an Outdoor Adventure Sport course, and our college has a bouldering wall which we have weeks of experience in, plus I have been going to a local climbing wall for over a year. We both know the belay system as this is covered on our course. In order to use the Energise climbing wall unsupervised we would both have to pay £60 (!!!) and do a course over the space of 4 weekends!! Utterly stupid! Learning etiquette, the belay system, and health and safety (which is just absolute common sense) does not take 4 weekend sessions and definitely shouldn't cost that much. Ridiculous.

I went with my friends and the staff are ignorant, they made my friend get out the pool when she could swim perfectly fine. The pool is absolutely freezing compared to the small pool.

Energies is one of the best York pools. I go to lessons there and they have helped me be a confident swimmer. I would certainly recommend energies to anyone to learn to swim or to just play on the floats and boats.

I've only been to the climbing wall here and it's pretty good for it just being in a leisure centre. There are about 20 lines to choose from- not a massive amount so you couldn't really go every week, but enough to go off every fortnight or so. There's one auto-belay and a bit of bouldering, although I didn't like the bouldering here much. It's about £6.50-£7.50 a go. And Thursday's 6-8pm they do a buddy session so if you need a climb partner for the evening you can find one there
