  Incredibly disappointing. Despite what they say on there website, pure gym make it difficult, and laborious to cancel your membership, they provide incorrect, and misleading advice about cancelling. And if you do want to speak to them about it, they make you call on a 50p per minute phone number, and wait on hold for some time. I would not recommend!

  As someone who feels really uncomfortable in a gym, I agree with Kyle Blackburn's review that it's an unthreatening environment. I'd go so far as to say it can be quite friendly. I tend to go early in the morning so maybe I haven't experienced the peak time busy periods which might feel very different. It's clean, good mix of equipment, great staff and excellent price, plus the central location. I need to give a special mention to one of the personal trainers, Carmen Lucy: I've been training with her for nearly six months now and she might be the main reason why I feel very positively towards this gym. Very professional, thoughtful and has a personalised approach which has given me a renewed confidence about using a gym.

  Very reasonable price, good classes that have a good booking system. Only downside is if you're using the gym in peak times you can rarely get to the weights/equipment you want but I guess that's to be expected.

  I hate this gym but sadly it's the best available without travelling 30 mins. It is so short on equipment that it's barely usable in the morning if you don't arrive before 6am. I can't imagine what it's like in the evening. There is a good selection of dumbbells over 10kg, but the rest of the equipment is pathetic: 2 squat racks, 1 weightlifting platform, and 2 sets of light dumbbells (most of which are either missing or are falling apart). There is also only one of each weight machine. For some reason though there are loads of cardio machines - including 23 treadmills - most of which are never being used. I've been a member of 4 different gyms and never seen such a mismatch between what equipment people want and what is available. Unless you go at unusual hours you'll find yourself sharing or waiting for every piece of equipment you want to use. There is clearly a gap in the market for a serious gym in central Brighton.
