  Stayed here for one night. Room OK, clean but rather snug in the eaves of the building. Breakfast well cooked but would have liked more choice and toast with the meal. However these are little niggles as nothing when compared to the outstanding evening meal. I have never had such a beautifully presented, delicious meal in a pub. If you want traditional pub grub this is probably not for you but for first rate artistically present food that tastes define I don't think you could beat this in any UK public house.

  The chef, Patrick Smith (formally of the Seven Stars at Marsh Baldon), has his career ahead of him. The food was excellent, and a three course meal with three rounds of drinks came to around £45 each, which was absolutely fair for the quality and quantity. The bar has an excellent range of gins and there is a decent selection of ales and an extensive wine list as well. Not as well known as it deserves to be, definitely worth a visit!

  Lovely pub, great food, and nice beer garden. However as it was -3d outside we decided to sit by the log fire. Rooms fairly small but very clean

  Been here for lunch twice now and both times the food and service has been top drawer. Chef clearly knows what he is doing – the food is creative, delicious and good value. Staff are also friendly and attentive – what more could you ask for!

  This pub is local to me and it is simply amazing. The food is fantastic for very reasonable prices. The alcohol is also reasonable prices and the staff are very friendly and professional. It has a warm and aged decor which makes you feel really at home there. They are laid back at the same time as having strict standards. I wish I had more time to spend there.
