Curious place, the staff all struggle a bit with English which can be annoying but everyone is friendly enough. The building and setting are excellent being one of the oldest places in Brackley.

Old fashioned village hotel. Good food and drink. Rooms are somewhat mishmash of furniture and fittings and dated decor. Toilet in bathroom too close to the towel radiator. Mattress on bed not comfortable, and shower screen doesn't stop water going on floor in bathroom. However staff are very polite and friendly.

Nice and old house with historical background. Lovely fire places to relax and a traditional well sorted bar. Could need some more cleaning staff regarding room make up. There is a local restaurant serving traditional British and international food. Might be useful to think about leaving the international dishes off the menu and concentrate on the British.

Had light lunch at crown wife asked for egg mayonnaise baguette it came as egg and parsley, not nice. Mine was ploughman's, with crusty bread. It came with cheddar and Stilton, ok, but no crusty bread had to ask for it, when it was brought to table, small soft roll. Would not go back.

Booked a table for 5. On arrival we had difficulty finding anyone to serve us, eventually moved tables ourselves , took 10 mins to get a coffee(which was nice) beer had to be sent back as full of bits ( bottom of the barrel) starters were nice - main course , fish pie was only salmon with liquid mash poured on top and covered in oil, the steak and ale pie was one of the worse we had ever had and again the mash was awful , the chef special salad was plain , the burger was great. The waiter did listen and did not charge for two glasses of red wine - but did charge for the beer. He did also say he had staff issues. There were only 4 other people in the restaurant - all of whom complained of the poor service - it took 2 and a half hours to serve two courses. My advise would be go next door to the diner and get a bacon roll.
