::I had my secondary bike serviced next door at Halfords they offered prompted well cumunicated friendly service all very good, i took my other bike a few weeks later to Evans to see how they faired ? Not so good, Iâm not going into detail of work they did etc but in brief, lack of cummication and a Manager who need some lessons in customer skills, i was disappointed with my experience with Evans.

::Pre ordered a bike that I had found on line, paid the ÂŁ50 deposit over the phone and was told it would be in within a few days. So far so good. Day arrived when the bike had been delivered, had a phone call from the shop to say my bike was built checked and ready. I live south Dudley way so took me around 45-50 mins to get there. On arrival the bike was hanging on the rack ready for me to have the bike âfirst fittedâ . A young chap took the bike off the rack and carried it up to the first floor to the turbo trainer to do this. Wasnt really filled with much confidence at this point as the guy didnât really seem to know what he was doing and ended up getting another member of staff to see what âhe thoughtâ. I was then told I had to pay an additional ÂŁ45 to have it done properly. Once it was roughly set up the young guy took the bike off the trainer and hit it with the wheel rim whilst doing this and without really looking said itâs ok. I wasnât really happy with the gear changes so the bike was taken downstairs to be adjusted. Once up on the stand is where I got to see the bike properly ďż˝ I noticed there where chips in the frame by the gearing and scratchâs in a few areas. Taking in mind that this is a brand new bike that had been built up, adjusted and supposedly checked over by their staff before I got there. I wasnât happy with this so the staff looked for a replacement with no joy. I was then told I could have ÂŁ60 off, which seems ok on a bike costing a few hundred pounds. This bike wasnât it was costing me thousands!! All of this could of been avoided if the staff had done there job properly and saved me wasting a near enough 2 hour round trip. I did pre order another bike that I will be cancelling today, I have no confidence in the staff there who to be honest didnât really seem to care and Iâd rather spend my money somewhere the customer service is better. Where also I know the bike is going to get proper attention. Sorry for the novel I just wanted to share my experience, wonât be using This store again.

::I have nothing but good things to say about Evans Cycles. Good selection of bikes and gear and they'll price match most retailers on the web. Their click and collect service is very handy to me as I can drive past after work and they're still open till 8. Excellent.

::Extremely helpful and knowledgeable staff. Great range of cycles and cycling gear. They offered me a 'test drive on the model that I fancide, but sadly, on this occasion, I didn't have time to take them up on it. Must strike fear into the hearts of the staff a couple of doors up;-)
