Mirror all of the other comments. Refreshingly pleasant and efficient experience, and not afraid to over-promise, yet still deliver.

Friendly welcome to this small office. Dealt with quickly and efficiently. Appreciated help we were given as we'd made an error with the form. Easy process. Be aware that your passport will be kept for a maximum of 4 weeks at the moment so you won't be able to travel outside the UK during that time.

As a somewhat learned individual, I like to keep my thirst for knowledge quenched, with foreign culture being no different. I decided to book myself an educational holiday to Volgograd to learn about the Mamayev Kurgan memorial complex and how the local community came together to deal with the aftermath of the war, but I digress. Agamemnon (My Canine and trusted companion) and I opted to get the train across the Pennines to the slightly less impressive county of Lancashire to obtain a tourist Visa for my highly anticipated visit to Volgograd. After a somewhat droll stroll through the city of Manchester we had reached our destination- a very grand, pearlescent white building with an obnoxious amount of security in and around the area of the grounds. It was a daunting sight to say the least. Once Agamemnon and I reached the main entrance, I was informed that my beloved companion would have to wait outside but one of the (seemingly) lovely members of staff would look after Agamemnon as I went about my business within the embassy. After next to no thought, I willingly agreed and left my partner in crime with the individual I will hereby refer to as Judas. Inside the building itself, it was a very well organised and no-nonsense operation with next to no time being wasted in the attainment of my Visa. The woman who handled the process was questioning me on why I wanted my Visa and I explained to her that I wished to visit the memorial and further expand my own knowledge. She looked at me in bemusement and then continued with the process. The process itself lasted no longer than an hour and I was given biscuits and orange juice to keep me replenished. They were very nice- I highly recommend you take them up on this offer when visiting. Leaving back through the main entrance, I was greeted by Judas and a somewhat disgruntled Agamemnon, but he would often get like this when not in my company for a substantial period of time, so again, I thought nothing of it and leaving Lancashire the same way we entered, via the train. After a good nights sleep, I was greeted with the rudest awakening a dog owner could be subject to. My beloved companion had suddenly died. The emotional notions I went through are too hard for me to document at this moment in time, I'm sure you all understand. After taking the deceased Agamemnon to the local Canine mortuary (Soon to be reviewed), it had been discovered that a military grade nerve poison was to blame for the tragic death of Agamemnon. Instantly, I contacted the Embassy to find out the events which involved Judas and my dog. I was not pointing my finger in blame, I only wished to ascertain what the procedure with domestic animals and if it were followed due to the fact my dog was dead and the response back was as follows: “Dear Mr. Spencer, Our condolences are with you for the loss of your dog, but it seems to us that it was your inability to protect your companion from such dangers as terrorism and everyday military grade poisoning. There was no hand from us in what happened and you should look closer to yourself to find out the true nature of this Canine killing. Regards, Vladamir Yermakov” Not only was my friend, cruelly taken away from me, but the blame was then put into my hands. Legally, I have no way to prove what happened that fateful day, but I have my suspicions. A lovely, picturesque building and a very efficient process in the attainment of tourist Visas. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Volgograd and would definitely return to the memorial complex via the embassy, just don't take your dog. 4/5.- Shouldn't be in Lancashire.

My friend and I applied for autotourism visas having made a complete mess of our applications. Aleksei went to great lengths, much beyond the call of duty, to efficiently and courteously sort out the mess and ensure that we got our visas precisely on the promised date. His colleague regaled us with stories from her Siberian childhood. What could have been a stressful nightmare was turned into a pleasure. David Wilson and Jennifer Stewart
